Refractive microlenses produced by excimer laser irradiation of poly (methyl methacrylate)
نویسندگان
چکیده
A method has been developed whereby refractive microlenses can be produced in poly (methyl methacrylate) by excimer laser irradiation at λ = 248 nm. The lenses are formed by a combined photochemical and thermal process. The lenses are formed as depressions in the substrate material (negative focal length), which makes replication necessary in order to obtain lenses with a positive focal length. The method allows for considerable flexibility with respect to the pattern of lenses and the properties of the individual lenses. In this investigation it was possible to vary the diameter of the lenses between 30 and 500 μm and the focal lengths between 300 μm and several mm.

Preparation of periodic surface structures on doped poly(methyl metacrylate) films by irradiation with KrF excimer laser
In this work, we describe laser modification of poly(methyl methacrylate) films doped with Fast Red ITR, followed by dopant exclusion from the bulk polymer. By this procedure, the polymer can be modified under extremely mild conditions. Creation of surface ordered structure was observed already after application of 15 pulses and 12 mJ cm(-2) fluence. Formation of grating begins in the hottest p...
متن کاملCoplanar refractive-diffractive doublets for optoelectronic integrated systems.
A coplanar refractive-diffractive doublet array employing surface-relief diffractive phase elements embedded within poly(methyl methacrylate) microlenses is introduced as an optomechanical building block for optoelectronic integrated systems. The design method, fabrication technology, and results are described. Coplanarity of the quadratic- and linear-phase elements constituting the doublet can...
متن کاملMeasurement and comparison of the temperature-dependence of refractive index of water and Plexiglas phantoms by interferometry method for their use in optical calorimetry
In radiation calorimetry by using laser beams and interferometry setups, variations induced by dose absorption in phantom can be precisely measured. Dose absorption and the induced temperature change result in refractive index variation of the material. In order to be able to measure the low amount of absorbed dose in the phantom, temperature dependence of refractive index of the material must ...
متن کاملDenture base polymers, poly methyl methacrylate improved using free radical copolymerization
Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) is the most common material used in Prosthodontics. Several studies indicate a breakdown of the number of very high resin bases after 2 to 3 years to avoid breaking bass and several attempts have been made, such as altering the chemical structure of resin by adding causes cross linking or copolymerization. The innovative method for improving the physical properti...
متن کاملDesign and Production of Two-Piece Thyroid-Neck Phantom by the Concurrent Use of Epoxy Resin and Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) Soft Tissue Equivalent Materials
The aim of this report is to present a new two-piece thyroid-neck phantom produced by the concurrent use of epoxy resin and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA: plexiglass) soft tissue equivalent materials. Accordingly, mass attenuation coefficients of the epoxy resin and the plexiglass compounds were obtained from simulation (NIST XCOM 3.1) and measurements (practical dosimetry) and compared to th...
